Data Analysis Support – Health Survey
April, 2025

Project Overview :
A postgraduate student from the University of Malawi approached TIRD for support in analyzing data collected for a thesis on maternal health service accessibility in rural districts. The survey captured responses from over 500 participants, including demographic details, healthcare utilization patterns, and service satisfaction ratings.
Our Approach :
- Data Cleaning & Preparation: We reviewed the dataset for missing values, inconsistencies, and outliers, ensuring it met statistical accuracy standards.
- Statistical Analysis: Using SPSS, we conducted descriptive and inferential statistical tests, including cross-tabulations, chi-square tests, and logistic regression to identify factors influencing service access.
- Visualization: We developed clear, publication-ready charts and tables to present findings effectively.
- Interpretation Support: Provided the client with a detailed report explaining the results, implications, and how to integrate them into the thesis discussion.
Our Outcome :
The student successfully defended the thesis with commendations from the faculty for the depth and clarity of the analysis. The findings were later presented at a regional public health research conference, sparking interest from local NGOs working in maternal healthcare.
