Digital Learning Access for Rural Schools
August, 2025

Project Overview :
The Community Education Development Initiative (CEDI) partnered with TIRD to bridge the digital divide in rural Nigerian schools. Many students lacked access to updated learning resources, and teachers faced challenges integrating technology into lessons. The goal was to create a sustainable, affordable, and inclusive digital learning environment.
Our Approach :
- Needs Assessment: Conducted surveys and focus group discussions with teachers, students, and local education authorities to understand learning gaps and infrastructure challenges.
- Program Design: Developed a hybrid learning model combining offline digital content with minimal internet dependency.
- Content Integration: Curated and customized STEM, literacy, and life skills materials aligned with Nigeria’s national curriculum.
- Capacity Building: Trained 50+ teachers on using tablets, interactive content, and basic ICT troubleshooting.
- Implementation Support: Set up solar-powered learning hubs to ensure consistent energy supply for digital devices.
Our Outcome :
Within the first academic term, students in participating schools demonstrated a 35% improvement in test scores and increased engagement in class activities. Teachers reported higher confidence in using technology, and the project received interest from regional education boards for replication in other districts.
